Forest Research Institute (Deemed to be University) Dehradun is first to begin forest research in India. After independence, it was renamed as Forest Research Institute and Colleges. In 1988 FRI Dehradun was considered as one of the institutes under autonomous organizations ICFRE (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change- Government of India). The institute offers masters, diplomas and doctoral programs. The admissions to all the courses of the institution is done on the basis of various entrance test conducted by the institute itself.
